Maguire Foundation awarded Pennsylvania School for the Deaf $100K for the next 10 years

Philadelphia, PA (March 7, 2019) – The Maguire Foundation awarded Pennsylvania School (PSD) for the Deaf $100K for the next 10 years to support our First Conversation Early Intervention Program.

“It is with deep gratitude that the Pennsylvania School for the Deaf’s First Conversations Early Intervention Program receives such a generous award from the Maguire Foundation. Their support will help us to provide the best services for the infants, toddlers and their families in our early intervention program.”, said Peter L. Bailey, PSD’s Head of School. “Our specialized Early Intervention Team develops a plan with each individual family that recognizes their deaf/hard of hearing child’s individual needs and utilizes strategies to optimize their child’s communication development. With their award, our Early Intervention staff can continue to offer a full range of services and supports for families and caregivers. Research confirms that a child’s language development goes hand in hand with cognitive development. Thanks to the Maguire Foundation, we can ensure that our Early Intervention program has the greatly needed resources to do the much-needed work with our youngest students and their families.”
