Hello everyone. These are my updates for the month of August. As you can see I am finally out of my office after spending a lot of time there. This month I thought I would do something a little bit different. I will talk to you about our campus and our buildings. The programming information for classes and COVID precautions is being put on hold for next month until the CDC guidelines get clarified. In the meantime I realized I have not updated you all with images of our brand new gymnasium. This month I get to show you our finishing touch on all the renovations we have done. The final installation is on the wall behind me. That, as well as the other wall decals, were made possible by Sara Wummer and her family. I want to thank them for their donations and others who have donated for the gymnasium project.
Image descriptions: Several pictures showing the old gym going through the process of a makeover.

Now you have seen our brand new gym. Next is 156. “156” is the name of this building. We call it 156 because of the property location. This is an additional acre we purchased a couple of years ago. We are still in the process of going back and forth about what it means for our historical designation. The main house is very old and currently historically designated. That means we cannot do any kind of demolition but we are doing some due process with the city to find out if we can change their minds. In the meantime there are two other structures behind me; one immediately behind me and the other in the distance. Those two are going to be demolished. We are leaving the main building for now until that process gets completed. Some people have been asking what we are going to do with this property. Once we have taken down these two smaller buildings we will have more freedom and more space to decide what we are doing with our Campus Plan. You may be familiar with a “master plan” but that’s not the language we are using. We are looking at our entire nine acre campus, as well as our additional one acre at 156, to decide what our campus plan will look like. Once we have made these decisions we will make that available to the public. It could include a brand new building that would exist here in this new space. Having 156 gives us those extra options. Again, we have not made any formal announcements because we are still making a lot of decisions. It will be a change in our campus layout and design. The main reason for these changes is that we are trying to reduce the risks of car traffic and pedestrian traffic coming in contact with each other. We want to separate parking areas from pedestrian areas and the driving areas as well. We also want to improve visibility on campus. Unfortunately we need to work through a lot of those details before we share that all with you. Last but not least I wanted to share this month that we do have our website up and running for our Golf Outing this fall. If you have not signed up yet please take a look and consider joining us. We would love to have you there for a day of golf. Take care.
