Enrollment now open for 2024-2025 School Year!

PSD is currently enrolling students in our Community Preschool program for the 2024-2025 school year. For more information, please contact: admissions@psd.org

The Community Preschool at Pennsylvania School for the Deaf is a play-based program for hearing children ages 3-5.

Located at our beautiful and historic Germantown campus, students build meaningful connections with caring adults and one another while developing language skills taught by certified teachers and specialists. In doing so, children gain a love of learning, cultural awareness, and the academic foundation needed to succeed in kindergarten.

Research shows that teaching American Sign Language (ASL) has a variety of benefits for both hearing and deaf or hard of hearing children. These include enhanced cognitive and communication skills, higher literacy rates, decreased frustration, and increased cultural awareness.

PSD’s unique curriculum builds a love for learning by pairing hearing children classrooms with Deaf and hard of hearing classrooms, creating an authentic bilingual learning environment. Students develop language, communication, and social-emotional skills using English and ASL.
