Let’s Go Ice Skating!

A FREE family ice skating event for families with deaf/hard of hearing children and CODAs (Children of Deaf Adults)!

Hosted by the University of Pennsylvania’s Penn In Hand ASL Club and the Family Resource Center at Pennsylvania School for the Deaf

Families with deaf/hard of hearing children and CODAs are invited to a special family ice skating event from 12:00 – 1:00 PM at the University of Pennsylvania Class of 1923 Ice Rink!

The Penn In Hand ASL club has generously sponsored this event for our community and the rink will be closed to the public.

Where:  Penn Class of 1923 Ice Rink, 3130 Walnut Street Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19104
When: Saturday, March 16, 2024
Time: 12:00 – 1:00 PM*

*Registered families must arrive at 11:30 AM to pick up their ice skates since we only have an hour to skate. Ice Skates sizes are available from Youth 7 through Adult size 15.

Admission is FREE 

PSD Families: Ice skate rentals are free for up to 4 family members

D/HH Community Members: Ice Skating rentals are only $3 each!

Ice Skate rentals: $3 per person for community members and each PSD family gets up to 4 FREE ice skate rentals

  • 11:50 AM – 12:00 PM: Introduction of Ice Rink / Skating rules for families

    The Penn Ice Rink is easily accessible by car, foot and public transportation. Parking is available close to the rink, but please read the information regarding parking carefully to ensure you are parking in a public location.

    By Foot: The main entrance is located at ground level on the east side of the rink (facing Center City). If you are on Walnut Street, stairs leading to the ground level are located on the west end of the rink on the Walnut Street level.

    Public Transportation: The rink is served by SEPTA bus routes 21 and 42 which stop at Walnut Street, (See “By Foot’ instructions to locate the main entrance.) The closest Trolley, Subway and Regional Rail stops are 30th street station. More instructions can be found on the SEPTA website.

    By Car: You will enter the rink off 31st Street which is accessible off Chestnut Street. In addition to metered street parking, there are three Penn Parking Lots available near the lot: Penn Park Lot, Lower Walnut Lot, and Penn Children’s Center lot. Check hours and detail on the Transportation and Parking website or consult the map below.  Please do not park in any “numbered” spaces as these are for facility vehicles only.
