About PSD Community Impact Day

Welcome to PSD Community Impact Day. This is a special day where we highlight the true impact the PSD community is making in the educational lives of our students. With this annual event, we aim to spotlight crucial programs and initiatives driving our students toward success. It is a day of reflection, gratitude, and an appeal to action for continued support.

This year we are spotlighting the remarkable strides that Pennsylvania School for the Deaf (PSD) students have achieved in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM) programs and initiatives. Through dynamic projects and practical learning experiences, our students are excelling academically and acquiring the confidence and abilities needed to navigate an increasingly complex world.

In the words of one of PSD’s most seasoned educators:

STEAM programming offers students structured problem-solving experiences, and when given the opportunity to do this in a multilingual setting, the language of inquiry can develop and grow. Those how, why, and how-come moments become a natural part of student inquisitiveness, providing the skills needed to excel and helping them further understand the world around them and ask their own whys.

Please join us in celebrating our students and the PSD community. With you we are making a lasting difference that extends far beyond the walls of PSD.

Where Your Impact Will Be Seen

By participating in PSD Community Impact Day, you are directly contributing to the advancement of STEAM programs and initiatives, enriching the educational experiences of our students in tangible ways.

Your partnership enables us to:

  • Provide additional extracurricular opportunities, such as a new STEM Camp for middle schoolers being offered this summer in partnership with the Comcast/NBCUniversal Foundation
  • Enhance our mathematics curriculum
  • Practice and prepare for STEAM competitions such as the Math Bowl
  • Continue to provide pre-college coursework focused on biology, forensics, writing, and more

Every gift and act of advocacy provides a pillar of support for our students, propelling them towards a future filled with endless possibilities!
